Tool Setter sought by a world leader Tier 1 manufacturer of automotive components. They provide quality products, services and solutions worldwide with customers in over 150 countries. This role will be a 6 week contract with the possibility of being extended.
 
The Role:

  • To set aluminium tools into carriers, including blue test sealing, shimming where needed, testing and repairing water and pneumatic circuits
  • To ensure the condition of the aluminium tooling is maintained repairing were needed via metal epoxy resin repairs, and or aluminium welding to a high standard
  • Modify aluminium tools using hand tools.
  • To ensure the production schedule is up to date and demand from logistics is met on a daily basis.
  • Ensure tooling database, checklists and audits are kept up to date.
  • Liaise with production, quality and logistics departments regarding QRQC level 1 (problem solving) and 3 lap audit meetings to increase communication effectiveness.
  • Ensure housekeeping and 5s standards are maintained and improved on a daily basis
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with the Company’s H&S Policy
  • Train, mentor and develop Tool room team members
  • Ensure the quality of work and attitude is to a high standard throughout the department
  • Short-term problem solving
  • Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training
  • Follow required emergency prevention and operational controls
  • Report all accidents, occupational illnesses and emergencies
  • Apply, execute and maintain function related BOS issues
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Tooling coordinator in line with the Company and Departmental objectives.

 
In addition to the above mentioned tasks, other activities and responsibilities may be individually defined.
 
Skills and Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship C&G L3 ideally
  • Appropriate craft or technical qualification
  • Experience in the automotive industry or equivalent fast manufacturing paced environment
  • Experience using basic hand tools, low pressure tools
  • Experience working on mould tooling or similar tools plastic or metal pressing, used a Vernier or Micrometer
  • Some pneumatics experience is desirable
  • Experience using pendant operated overhead cranes desirable
  • FLT counterbalance Licence desirable
  • Reach Truck licence
