Start Date

An accomplished Database Administrator with experience of Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS/SSRS/BI within an Agile or Lean environment is sought by a market leading renewable utilities and technology provider to join their development team based in Sheffield city centre.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining multiple MS SQL Databases and BI solutions
  • Defining future development of the business’ technology platform
  • Taking responsibility for delivery of multiple projects to various business streams
  • Establishing new ways of working and architecture moving forward
  • Gaining extensive experience on different products and services offered by XLN
  • Automating Database tasks
  • Mentoring of other Developers on Database Design and Performance
  • Taking responsibility for several concurrent projects and improving monitoring & maintenance processes
  • Designing technical solutions to solve business problems
  • Working in an Agile environment
  • Working with test driven development
  • Working with multi-disciplinary project teams across the whole SDLC
  • Building positive team dynamics and relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Working with a diverse and high energy team of over 20 talented engineers
  • Continually learning and developing your skills

The successful Database Administrator will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing, developing and maintaining large-scale databases using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of database administration
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of working in an Agile/Lean environment
  • Three-year university degree or equivalent in a relevant computing discipline
  • Experience of SSIS/SSRS/BI
  • Experience of database performance tuning and refactoring processes
  • Experience of coaching developers in SQL best practices
  • Good knowledge of storage technologies, memory management, disk arrays, networking
