Engineering Manager is sought by a manufacturing organisation specialising in carpeting prime residences, iconic buildings of national and historic interest as well as many of the world’s leading luxury hotels, cruise ships, gaming and leisure venues.

The Role:

Reporting to the UK Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing, improving and managing the maintenance of equipment and the manufacturing process to meet business commitments. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the Engineering function to provide an efficient service to manufacturing operations supporting health, safety, environmental, production quality and cost for the plant
  • Ensure robust and effective planned maintenance and problem solving systems are in place and facilitated
  • Ensure root cause analysis is conducted for failures and corrective action plans implemented
  • Identifying and implementing best practice engineering methods and techniques with the aim of continuous improvement in all areas
  • Ensure Preventative and Planned Maintenance is incorporated as a way of life – part of the drive to reducing wastage and non-value-adding activities
  • Contribute to, and manage capital expenditure projects
  • Managing / motivating a team of specialist engineers, supervisors and multi skilled engineers
  • Developing and strengthening procedures and related documentation.
  • Play a leading part in Health, Safety & Environmental legislation adherence.
  • Deliver against KPIs of safety, service (speed and reliability), quality and cost effectiveness
  • Interface with customers at senior level; customer focussed, practicing principles of continuous business improvement

The successful Engineering Manager should have most of the following:

  • Degree in engineering discipline
  • Strong communicator both verbal & written with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong team management skills including appraisals and performance management
  • Ability to work and influence all levels of management
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Be able to work on own initiative, highly motivational and proactive
  • Excellent analytical, numerical and pragmatic problem solving skills
  • Diplomacy, tact and influencing skills
  • Effective organisation and project management skills
  • Able to deliver results and strive for continuous improvement
  • Awareness of Legal compliance under existing law
  • Strong budgetary and financial control
  • Ability to inspire, lead, direct, organise and motivate others
  • Drive and determination to start and finish a variety of tasks in a demanding environment
  • Approach tasks, projects and meetings with a positive attitude, maintaining effective communication throughout with a solid commercial awareness
  • Able to negotiate at a higher level and close deals
