Start Date

Environmental Advisor sought by a registered charity who regulate the Landfills Community Fund, providing guidance on the allocation and protection of funds.

The Role:

Known formally within the business as Regulations Officer and reporting to the Policy & Regulations Manager, your duties will include:

  • Assisting in development and communication of Landfill Community fund section/Regulations 1996, policy positions and giving guidance to environmental bodies wishing to apply for funding projects, help clarify if they are eligible
  • Being first point of contact for advice and guidance on Regulations
  • Giving advice and guidance to stakeholders and internal teams
  • Compiling reports e.g. data analysis; preparing monthly / ad hoc management information
  • Monthly reporting of information to HMRC
  • Managing the Quality Management System, working to ISO9001, ensuring all departments have up to date policies and procedures
  • Make recommendations to changes for regulations which goes to the HMRC
  • Communicating regulations and interpretations to potential & registered Environmental Bodies (EBs), landfill community, wildlife trust and other parties to provide understanding of the scheme and compliance issues
  • Assessing and processing project and enrolment applications , writing guidance documents
  • Managing training events and developing training materials to meet the needs of EBs

The successful Environmental Advisor will ideally have most of these skills/knowledge:

  • Graduate calibre
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines
  • Able to quickly absorb and understand the LCF scheme and Regulations
  • Strong numeracy, good eye for detail
  • Ability to provide data analysis as required
  • High level of computer literacy as the role involves a lot of reading and writing
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Able to analyse large amounts of information and report concisely on the result
  • Excellent communication, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Comfortable working as part of a small team and with colleagues across the organisation
