An experienced External Sales Executive is sought by a leading Builders Merchant with two depots around London. You will be covering the area around Finchley, North London.

A forward-thinking Builders Merchant established for over 30 years, this organisation is looking for an accomplished salesperson to serve customers and play a vital role in ensuring the achievement of sales targets.

The Role:

Reporting to the Sales Manager, as External Sales Executive you will play a vital role in ensuring the day-to-day sales targets are achieved as well as to be able to push, motivate and bring healthy competition within the sales team.

You will be responsible for serving customers and building strong relationships to generate sales.

Whatever our customers need, whenever they need it, you will ensure they can get it straight from the Depot.

You will deal extensively with customers to identify their needs by providing product advice to customers, dealing with quotes and queries, liaising with drivers regarding deliveries and actively seeking sales through customer contacts in order to maximise sales opportunities. Your day to day duties will include:

  • Making calls in order to close the leads that have been generated
  • Achieving sales targets and deadlines
  • Upselling across the product range
  • Building strong customer relations
  • Generating new business
  • Attending weekly sales meetings to inform the team of progress
  • Ad hock tasks projects

The successful External Sales Executive will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the construction industry
  • Proven sales and a track record of performance, as well as experience working in a professional team environment
  • Excellent product knowledge and commercial awareness within the construction industry, preferably within the builders merchant setting
  • The ability to remain professional at all times and be a good at multitasking


  • Up to £40,000 depending on experience
