An Engineering Manufacturing Manager with both maintenance and manufacturing engineering expertise is sought by a world leader in the manufacture of automotive components to join their plant in Liverpool. The company is a global diversified technology and industrial leader, serving customers in more than 150 countries.

The Role:

As Manufacturing Engineering Manager you will focus on maintenance management improvement and management of on-site manufacturing engineering improvements. Your overall job purpose will be:

  • Guide and coordinate Advanced Manufacturing activities within development and operational projects
  • Process development and assembly sequencing (process flow chart) for new programs
  • Manufacturing feasibility analysis (DFA/DFM) and PFMEA on new products
  • Plant and process layout for new products and plant launches
  • Process specifications and recommendations regarding ergonomic improvements
  • Specifications for manufacturing equipment and recommendations for procurement
  • Drive Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance excellence
  • Provide cost analysis of product and process alternatives

Maintenance Duties:

  • Develop, deliver and continuously improve maintenance strategy in line with equipment and best practices, and establish and maintain a spares strategy compatible with this
  • With the site management team, develop the most appropriate maintenance organisation balancing in house and outsourced activities
  • Establish an appropriate on-site workshop facility
  • Implement an appropriate CMMS
  • Deliver continuous improvements to MTBF, MTTR, TCM and other relevant maintenance KPIs and put in place department and site-wide communication
  • Plan all shutdowns ensuring on time delivery of all maintenance objectives
  • Create preventive programs and makes certain, that safety regulations are observed
  • Preventative service, and repair devices and machines
  • Plan and work out methods for optimising work places and processes
  • Administer and procure spare parts
  • Install and implement, and create maintenance lists of: machines, plants, devices
  • Check thoroughly all machines, devices, systems, installations and structural changes in order to ensure that all statuary safety rules are observed
  • Create servicing manuals for all machines and circuit diagrams for all electric systems
  • Permanently updating the ground plan including all buildings and estates on which the position of all pipes, cables and sewers can be seen in order to facilitate arranging repairs
  • Provide a general map with the exact positions of gas and water pipes, chemical pipes and electrical pipes and sewers
  • Manage the Plant security system
  • Develop new production and production-supporting systems
  • Play a full role as a member of the site senior management team
  • Close any gaps in current organisation; implement and maintain succession plans
  • Act as gatekeeper for all new plant and equipment being introduced on site
  • Contact other companies, public organisations (e.g. fire brigade)
  • Develop and maintain out of hours specialist support for critical equipment

Manufacturing Engineering Duties:

  • Stimulate continuous improvement process (KAIZEN, DO IT) with the objective of MEQ
  • Work with SD-Teams to complete product launches
  • Monitor assembly equipment through production start up
  • Stimulate TPM in new projects
  • Monitor and audit adaptation of manufacturing best practices and standards in the plant
  • Cooperate with Centre of Excellence for further development of Advanced Manufacturing tools and processes
  • Ensure, support and develop manufacturing capabilities in Plant

The successful Manufacturing Engineering Manager will demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial) and at least 2 years’ previous experience as a Maintenance Technician or Maintenance Engineer
  • At least 6 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering Capacity
  • OEM or Tier One automotive seating or interior trim experience
  • High volume automotive manufacturing engineering experience
  • Project management experiences in international environment
  • Budgeting and cost control
