Merchandiser sought by an international omni-channel hair & beauty service provider and retailer to join their team in Central Birmingham.

The Role:

Reporting to the Retail Merchandising Manager, you’ll be responsible for selecting merchandise for order and placing the order, and being involved in inventory distribution. You’ll review success of previous orders to determine extent to which inventory. You’ll also research new trends or advances in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions. Your key duties will include:

  • Liaise with General Managers on available product ranges to ensure the right products are in the right salons in line with company strategy
  • Regularly reviewing sales to align products with current trends
  • Responsible for controlling inventory within the DC, maintaining replenishment parameters and liaising with US Buyers for products imported from the US
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers ensuring best prices/terms at all times
  • Identifying supply issues and dealing with problems and delays as they arise
  • Using data available to create planograms for designated ranges to ensure products are displayed effectively
  • Plan and communicate product promotions in liaison with the Marketing Department
  • Forecasting quantities, ensuring stock is distributed effectively, and monitoring sales
  • Monitoring slower movers and making recommendations to set promotions or move out of the business
  • Identifying new trends and presenting new ranges to senior management team
  • Liaise with General Managers for the products required for new salon openings and the layout of the retail area in line with the company strategy
  • Any other reasonable duties that may be required by the Retail Merchandise Manager
  • Uphold and adhere to company vision and values

The successful Merchandiser should have most of the following:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Retail merchandise role, with responsibility for own range/s
  • Able to demonstrate how you’ve developed a range or product
  • Strong Financial/Analytical skills – able to understand financial reports, analyse the information and identify action points and concerns from the information
  • Proficient in Word, strong Excel skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and gain trust and respect from peers, colleagues and external connections
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with at all levels internally and externally
  • Strong organisational & time management skills, able to prioritise to meet crucial deadlines
  • Demonstrable ability to work using own initiative with the confidence to make decisions
  • Strong negotiation and influencing  skills
