An experienced Quality Manager is sought by a world leader in the manufacture of automotive components to join their plant in Liverpool. The company is a global diversified technology and industrial leader, serving customers in more than 150 countries.

The Role:

In this daily customer facing role, as Quality Manager you will lead the quality team comprising Quality Co-ordinators, Quality Resident Engineers, Quality Lab Technicians, Quality Auditors, a Senior Quality Engineer and a Systems Engineer.

Your primary job purpose will be to implement World Class Quality Systems; continual improvement of MEQ Quality deliverables for the Plant. Supplier development and Quality performance on post S.O.P. activities. Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Ensure that the Plant successfully implements applicable World class quality systems and are certified/compliant with BOS, IATF 16949 QS-9001 and China CCC audit, etc. as appropriate
  • Apply, execute and maintain function related BOS issues
  • Engage in and provide leadership and direction for site problem solving using all of the approved methods and standards applicable
  • Support and manage the corrective/preventative action process ensuring the verification and release of corrective action process is adhered to
  • Visual Management – provide leadership and support for site visual factor
  • Set standard & culture for outstanding customer experience, target zero customer concerns

Delivery & Launch Excellence:

  • Set, monitor and deliver on Plant and Team KPIs for continuous improvement of the site
  • Lead on the achievement of maturity through the company manufacturing system
  • Support the launch of new products and processes
  • Provide direction, management and leadership for appropriate third party suppliers
  • Responsible in ensuring that all continuous improvement is made in all Production MEQ Deliverables (e.g.: RPPM; CPPM; IPPM; SPPM and Warranty/JD Power)
  • Function as the primary point of contact for the Operation in responding to critical customer issues, quality key measure performance and other “Customer Specific” initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvement of post S.O.P. supplier development and Quality performance. This includes leading the MQR and corrective action processes for Supplier issues. Assess and approve post S.O.P, Supplier PPAP’s and provide the appropriate technical support to assist a supplier resolve a critical issue

Health, Safety & Environment:

  • Maintain the standard for all Health, Safety & Environmental requirements of the site
  • Report near-misses, accidents, hazards, occupational illnesses and emergencies in line with correct reporting procedure. Support investigation and work to eliminate root cause issues
  • Lead the plant to continuously improve in all aspects of HS&E through inspections, observations, risk assessments and ongoing training and development
  • Provide guidance and support for plant ergonomic champions and process


  • Provide leadership and support for the CI process and day to day activities to reduce cost
  • Support energy saving initiatives
  • Maintain budgetary control

The successful Quality Manager will demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is essential
  • Specific education and training in Quality disciplines including QS9000, continuous improvement, total quality management, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE and SPC
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quality field
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience leading a team
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment – automotive experience highly beneficial
  • Knowledge of the AIAG Quality planning and control Plan standard, FMEA’s, PPAP’s, Dimensional layouts, gauge/fixture design and performance/material testing.
